WATCH ME BURN PV

This summer has been full of news from Crystal Lake. First we got the announcement on CAMPFIRE that they would be raising money for their new re-recordings album, "The Voyages", and then this single! In addition, there was also the sad news that Shinya would be taking a temporary hiatus from performing with Crystal Lake. We hope that he can come back as soon as possible! Being the first release in over a year and a half, fans were excited for WATCH ME BURN! The DVD that comes with the physical release features footage from "Resurrection Fest" in Spain and "Our Sanctuary World Tour 2019 Commentary Film", a documentary with interviews and comments by Crystal Lake and other bands they came across while touring. The A side, 「WATCH ME BURN」 is a rather melodic track with a very catchy chorus and an intense break down, Crystal Lake style. I would say that it was probably designed to be easy to listen to, perhaps a good hook to attract more fans? Not my favorite, but not bad. The B side,「DISOBEY」is amazing! This is not to say that「WATCH ME BURN」is a bad track at all, but in comparison,「DISOBEY」blows the roof off this single. In terms of consistency, it is similar in style to「Aeon」, especially in face melting ability. The last minute consists of some sort doomy chanting. Crystal Lake makes really good use of the absence of sound in this part.  The band certainly enjoys adding small bits of more extreme genres to their music. I wish they would feel free to make use of this more often.

WATCH ME BURN Lyrics

Waiting for the sunrise, whoa Drowning in the shadow that I'll cast Standing at the front line, whoa I'm my own worst enemy, and the war has just begun This world has gone insane This is my heaven and hell and the place I grow old Buried alive because it's where I belong Where is my dignity? Obscured by fantasy Diamonds and gold don't mean shit when we are dead I sacrificed everything, I gave my soul to death Now I'm crying out inside Do I leave my name behind? Maybe one day you will feel my pain Maybe one day you will see my way You wanna watch me burn? Well, now they set us on fire We're in this together, right? Honor in death Get down, I'm the one who's got nothing to lose Get down, not done yet and now I know what to prove Get down Now I'm crying out inside Do I leave my name behind? Maybe one day you will feel my pain Maybe one day you will see my way Waiting for the sunrise, whoa Drowning in the shadow that I'll cast Standing at the front line, whoa I'm my own worst enemy, and the war has just begun Crying out inside Leave my name behind Maybe one day you will feel my pain Maybe one day you will see my way, watch me burn Waiting for the sunrise, whoa Drowning in the shadow that I'll cast Standing at the front line, whoa I'm my own worst enemy, it's just begun Waiting for the sunrise, whoa Faded in the twilight, whoa Standing at the front line, whoa I'm my own worst enemy in the war that just began

Disobey Lyrics

Suffering Violence is the path of survival Silence is the way to resist I cannot break these chains, now I know I'm a slave Bound by the fear and hate that justify what I have become Obsession There is no escape, it's death or submission No, it's not No, are you breathing? Are we slaves to the world? Fuck no There is no love, are you breathing? Are you cogs in machines? Fuck no Remember who's your master Who is your master? Break away from the pack of mindless dogs And bite the hand that bleeds you, are they god? They're not Disobey All the tears that we shed and all the fears that they fed Are the fuel to our fire, burn it up Burn, burn it up Burn, burn it up
